Inis Eile
Inis Eile is a socially engaged, participatory project, which explores Irish identity, collective myth-making, the challenges and successes of contemporary Ireland, and utopian dreaming of possible alternate futures for our home.
The fictional island Inis Eile, acts as a mirror of Ireland and a testing ground for speculative futures. Its history and culture is constructed through collaborative storytelling, play and discussion based workshops, and other interactions with members of the public.
Reminiscent of the many conflicting accounts of mythical lands adjacent to Ireland such as Hy-Brasil and Tír na nÓg, the project allows space for multiple simultaneous viewpoints, experiences, and realities. The collaboratively authored story of the island will be expressed through various artefacts and publications, as well as being collected online on the project’s website.

ARTIFACTING booklet
This booklet helps to record memories about artefacts found, seen, or borrowed from Inis Eile.
Using dice and mechanics similar to solo journaling or table top role playing games, the booklet guides you through telling stories about these found artefacts.
The purpose of Inis Eile is to create space to collaboratively play, imagine, problem solve, and tell stories, and to see what unfolds. You can use this booklet alone, but it’s much more fun with friends.
